Lecce Get Castillo….

By: Tommaso | August 7th, 2008

Lecce have signed José Ignacio Castillo Ãlvarez,
A prolific striker, nicknamed Nacho, he moved in Italy in 2001 to join Serie D club Brindisi, offering a massive contribution to their promotion to Serie C2 thanks to 15 goals in 23 matches. Despite this, he was not initially allowed to try his luck into professional football due to his lack of a European Union passport, and consequently opted to join Apulian Serie D side Nardò, where he scored 17 goals. In 2003 he left Nardò for Vigor Lamezia, where he scored an impressive 24 goals in 32 matches. In 2004, Castillo returned to Apulia to join newly-promoted but ambitious Serie D side Gallipoli, helping them to gain two consecutive promotions thanks to a 40 goals in 55 matches, being now able to play into Serie C2 during the 2005-06 season after having finally obtained an Italian passport at the age of 29.

For the 2006-07 season, Castillo agreed to join Serie B side Frosinone in a loan deal, but failed to impress, scoring only 5 goals in 30 matches and being mostly featured as a substitute during the campaign. For the following season, Castillo signed for newly-promoted Serie B club Pisa, and presented himself by scoring two winning goals to Bari in his debut match with the nerazzurri.
I want to take a second to address my Friend writing the Palermo blog.

Tiri la vostra testa dal vostro asino e mantenga la lingua ripugnante sul vostro blog. Sarò con la famiglia a Palermo questa caduta. A Palermo diciamo che ci sono tre tipi di maschi. 1. Uomini 2. Uomini mezzi 3. Uomini che hanno cacato i loro pantaloni Lo penso caduta nel numero tre.

MAD - the old Sicilians still speak Sicilian strictly. As for the younger generation, they refuse to speak Sicilian for the most part. The dialect is definitely dying, and that’s a shame.

    It’s a generational thing, though.

Milanese dialect also seemed to be dying out about 20 years ago, but has become “trendy” to a certain extent in recent years. The same thing may happen in Sicily (though I can’t imagine that we will ever again return to a world where standard Italian was literally unspoken and not understood in much of the island).

I still speak the dialect Sicilian and I’m young, I only have 22 years of age. many of my friends do to buy yes I feel that it is dying. My future wife and I will definitely teach our children our mother dialect or else :)

alessandro - are you Sicilian born? Or Sicilian-American? My comment was directed towards native Sicilians living there. In the US, it’s different because many “Siculi-miricani” tend to speak the dialect to preserve the culture. Over there it’s strictly a generational issue as I and ursus mentioned. Good to hear that you’ll teach your future kids the dialect though.

Given the fact that he “has” 22 years of age, I’d say English is not his first language. no offense Alessandro! Puglia has a ton of dialects, there’s one in Foggia, I can’t remember the name offhand but my grandparents only speak it cause they were taught it in schools, I think it’s mostly dead.

Could be. There’s a lot in Puglia though, so I don’t know.

Lecce fans beat up Antonio Conte……only goes to show that LECCE IS SHIT. I guess the tifosi forgot that Conte played for them for 7 years, but I guess 6 months coaching the other team is enough to erase that from their tiny little brains, eh Tomasso?
