Over the past two games, Lecce has conceided 7 goals. Today, the main culprit for the leakage in the pipe that is our defence, is Tomovic. It was literally physically painful watching Floro Flores havinghis way with Tomovic. One may say Fabiano played just as poorly, and he did defensively, but he at least offered some attack on a set piece for Lecce. It really doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that without our Superman, Di Michele, this game would have been 4-0 Genoa, maybe even worse.

The defeat came at an even steeper price as all of Parma, Sampdoria, Cesena, and Catania won. Lecce sits level on points with Sampdoria with 35, but due to the difference of goals scored and goals allowed, Lecce sits in 18th spot…aka the relegation zone. Big game next week vs Chievo…

My name is Adam Carter, currently residing in Stoney Creek, Ontario (just outside of Toronto). I love calcio, while supporting two teams: Juventus and Lecce. When I saw that TheOffside needed a Lecce blogger I couldn’t resist myself to apply. This club has a great fan base back in Italy and I want to try and publicize it as much as I can in the English speaking world.

I’ll try to post previews and reviews, mid week updates, injuries, transfer rumours…all that good stuff!

Until then, you can follow the official twitter for this blog @LecceOffside. This blog’s email, which will be shared with the twitter account, will be lecceoffside@gmail.com.

Ciao!

As a side note; as a player I enjoy watching teams that have kept the “identity” of there style of playing. Not to take away from the success of the Powerhouses but many do not play simply what I love to watch , a physical, testing chess match which is Calcio.

Lecce have signed José Ignacio Castillo Álvarez,
A prolific striker, nicknamed Nacho, he moved in Italy in 2001 to join Serie D club Brindisi, offering a massive contribution to their promotion to Serie C2 thanks to 15 goals in 23 matches. Despite this, he was not initially allowed to try his luck into professional football due to his lack of a European Union passport, and consequently opted to join Apulian Serie D side Nardò, where he scored 17 goals. In 2003 he left Nardò for Vigor Lamezia, where he scored an impressive 24 goals in 32 matches. In 2004, Castillo returned to Apulia to join newly-promoted but ambitious Serie D side Gallipoli, helping them to gain two consecutive promotions thanks to a 40 goals in 55 matches, being now able to play into Serie C2 during the 2005-06 season after having finally obtained an Italian passport at the age of 29.

For the 2006-07 season, Castillo agreed to join Serie B side Frosinone in a loan deal, but failed to impress, scoring only 5 goals in 30 matches and being mostly featured as a substitute during the campaign. For the following season, Castillo signed for newly-promoted Serie B club Pisa, and presented himself by scoring two winning goals to Bari in his debut match with the nerazzurri.
I want to take a second to address my Friend writing the Palermo blog.
